Camera Down = Blog Down

Tuesday

So in case you didn't hear, my camera broke at the Pens game a few weeks ago. I had the lens open and it fell out of my lap as I was letting someone into the aisle and then the lens got stuck in the extended position. :( Major bummer. It's getting fixed at a camera shop, but it won't be ready for another week. So until then, I don't expect to get many still images with my sucky camera phone.

Ctrl-Alt-Delete

Ugh, had problems with my computer today. All is fixed now, but that put me back a couple of hours... Note to self: check for compatibility issues before downloading new software.

Dirty little Mouse...

...so this was AFTER I had already dumped out a bunch of crud from the inside of my computer mouse. I used the ever-handy paper clip to scrape out the extra. Man, no wonder it wasn't working properly! Looks like an actual mouse crawled in there and died... o_o

Hypothesis - PC's are Lazy Bums

So tell me, why do Macs open up files that lack file extensions (like .psd, .doc, .qxd) while PC's don't?

Why can't PC's do the extra work it takes to figure out what program opens up the file?

I think it's because PC's only reach for the lowest possible standard. Kind of like a lazy student who could be a genius if he applied himself, but only puts forth mediocre effort.

It can't be that difficult to figure out, right?

Or maybe I'm the lazy one because I don't feel like adding the extension?

...

Which leads to my next hypothesis: When technology works harder and gets smarter, humans get dumber and lazier.

Maybe the PC folks are doing us a favor by keeping their computers dumber longer...thereby prolonging the inevitable decline and fall of Man in light of the ever advancing Machine??

...

yikes.

...

Which leads to my final hypothesis: Macs are going to eventually take over the world.

Fires on Google Maps

I saw a cool/scary thing on Google maps just now. They are showing reports and updates on the fires out west. They have burn areas, evacuations, shelters and other information represented visually on their maps. I haven't seen anything like it.

Things like this remind me how terrible these fires really are and remind me to keep prayer for and think about those effected by this disaster. It also makes me think, though technology is great and can really help society, in times like this (and any time really), it is community and person-to-person contact that really matters.

Favicons

Favicons - They are the little icons you see in your web browser, tabs, bookmarks, RSS readers, etc. I just found out how to get our Jo Outdoors logo onto our website!

Here's where I found out how:

People are so odd...here's a text message I received from a number I didn't know, but it was a 724 area code, so I thought it might have been someone from home who changed their number... Bottom line: don't bother responding to these random messages...they get you nowhere.

Random #: So theres this guy im totally in love w. his names mike **** n he is so amazing n way too good to me n i cant stop thinking about him. Goodnite i love u <3

Me: Hey, I dont hav this # in my fone so im not sure who this is. :\

Random #: Tricia who

Me: Chicka. r u from Saltsburg?

Random #: No im from hempfield. Dont txt me i dont kno u

(Hello...you text'ed me first!)

Then later, I got another text from a different number that was in the middle of some kind of conversation... Do people actually send these things to the wrong number or is this Spam?? :P

Google Transit for Pittsburgh!

I think that this is awesome that Pittsburgh managed to get to be one of the few cities to try out Google's new Transit mapping system.

http://www.google.com/transit

Port Authority's website (www.portauthority.org) pretty much stinks. They need to let Google give them a makeover!

One more point for Google. :)
